The white grape variety is a new breed between Roter Traminer ( Gewurztraminer x Müller-Thurgau, The breeding took place 1927 at the Bavarian state institute for wine and horticulture in Würzburg by George Shy (1879-1949), who called her "Pearl of Alzey".
