Pearl Noire

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Panse de Provence (Beba) x Seyve Villard 12-358 (Seibel 6468 x Subereux). Synonyms are Seyve-Villard 20-347 and SV 20-347. It contains genes of Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in France by the breeder Bertille Seyve (1864-1939) at the Seyve-Villard vineyard in Saint-Vallier (Département Drôme). The vine is suitable for wine presses and table grape. It was a crossing partner for the new varieties Lanka and Muscat Bleu. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson). Perle Noire is also a synonym for table grape Black Pearl, which originated in the USA. A second table grape named Perle Noire originates from Hungary. The parentage of these two varieties is unknown.
