Perlette

The white grape variety is a new variety between Queen of the Vineyards x Sultanina (Sultana). Synonyms are California 1253 F 21, Perlet, Perleta, Perletta and Szertendrei Magvatlon. The cross was made in 1936 at the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of California by the breeder Harold P. Olmo (1909-2006). The variety was a crossing partner in the new varieties Aron, Augusta (3), Dawn Seedless, Evita Blanche, Exalta and Helios (2). The versatile vine is used as a wine grape and table grape, as well as for sultanas. It is cultivated on all continents in numerous countries worldwide, including Germany and Austria. In 2016, presumably only the wine grape quantities were reported, which are France (0.3 ha), Portugal (1 ha) and Spain (1 ha). That's a total of 2.5 hectares of vines (Kym Anderson).
