The family winery "AWP Pernikl" is located in the municipality of Nussdorf ob der Traisen (near St. Pölten) in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Traisental. The winery's winemaking tradition can be traced back to the year 1659. Today it is run by Walter Pernikl. The vineyards cover three hectares. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau and Gemischter Satz make up 85% of the vineyards, and the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and Blauburger make up 15%. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practised, for example, with no insecticides, use of predatory mites and cover crop. The wines are mainly matured dry in large wooden barrels. The premium wines include a Traisental DAC Grüner Veltliner and Weißburgunder Steinbühel. Around 15,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Noble brandies are also produced.
