Pervenets Magaracha

The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Rkatsiteli x Magarach 2-57-72(Mtsvane Kakhuri x Sochinsky Chernyi). Synonyms are Pervenec Magaraca, Pervenets Magaratsch, Pervenetz Magaratcha and Pervenyec Magaracsa. Genes of Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in 1966 at the Viticulture Institute Magarach in Crimea, Ukraine by the breeder P. Ya. Golodriga. By the way, the new breed Podarok Magaracha was created with the same parents. The medium to late-maturing vine is extremely frost-resistant to minus 25 °Celsius and resistant to downy mildew. It produces amber-coloured, acidic white wines. There are larger areas under cultivation with 517 hectares in Moldova and 2,238 hectares in Russia. There are also stocks in Azerbaijan and Ukraine. In 2016, a total of 2,755 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
