Petite Amie

The white grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between Elmer Swenson 2-11-4 (ES 5-14 x Swenson Red) x DM P2-54 (Suelter x Morio-Muskat). Synonyms or breeding numbers are Dave McGregor 8313-1 and DM 8313-1. Genes from Vitis aestivalis, Vitis berlandieri, Vitis cinerea, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed in 1983 by David McGregor in Minnesota in the USA. The late ripening vine is resistant to frost down to minus 32 °Celsius. It yields white wines with muscat tones and aromas of roses and tropical fruits. It is grown in small quantities in the US states of Iowa (0.1, ha) Minnesota and Nebraska. However, in 2016, only the Iowa stand was reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
