Pétoin

The white grape variety originates from France. Synoynms are Gros Blanc and Pinot de Vouvray. It should not be confused with the Melon de Bourgogne variety (with the synonym Pétoin). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it originates from a presumably natural cross between Gouais Blanc x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see under molecular genetics). No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
