The winery is located in the municipality of Montan/Montagna in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol). The traditional family has been growing wine since 1861. Three generations are active in the business with the following guiding principle: Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, working together leads to success. It is managed by Klaus and Monika Pfitscher. In 2011, a new winery was opened on the outskirts of the community, with the building embedded in nature. From the tasting room you can enjoy a view of the South Tyrolean lowlands and the mountains. The path to the cellar is designed in different colours and ends dark blue in the Blauburgunderkeller.

Weingut Pfitscher und Südtiroler Unterland

The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the five communities of Auer, Kurtatsch, Montan, Neumarkt and Völs with different soils at altitudes of up to 900 meters above sea level. The gradient is up to 100% (45°). They are planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Bianco(Pinot Blanc), Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay, and the red wine varieties Pinot Nero(Pinot Noir) and Lagrein.

The wines are matured as DOC South Tyrolean wines in steel tanks, in barriques or in large wooden barrels, depending on the type of wine. Then they are stored in the bottle for a few months before being marketed. The top line "Superior" includes the red wines Pinot Nero Fuchsleiten (oak barrel), Pinot Nero Matan Riserva and Lagrein Riserva, the red wine cuvée Cortazo (every four to 15 months in small and large oak barrels), as well as the white wines Sauvignon Blanc Saxum and Gewürztraminer Rutter (both in steel tanks on the fine yeast).
