Philosophy and wine

Numerous poets and thinkers have written philosophical treatises on wine and wine enjoyment. These included Anakreon, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Henri d'Andeli, Omar Khayyam and Nikolaus Lenau. Further examples can be found under the keywords customs in viticulture, country rules, toasts and quotations. In the work Satyricon by the Roman poet Gajus Petronius, which describes the customs of ancient Rome, wine is a central theme.
