The traditional winery "FX Pichler" is located in the municipality of Oberloiben in the Lower Austrian wine region Wachau, It is one of the best known and most renowned wine addresses in Austria, The company was founded in 1898 by Franz Pichler (* 1908), who had already selected particularly small-berry, extract-rich Grüner Veltliner in 1928. From 1971 the business was run by Franz Xaver Pichler (* 1941), who is considered a “doyen” and absolute top oenologist in the Austrian white wine scene. Today he is managed in the fifth generation of the family by son Lucas and his wife Johanna.
The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards hollerin and Kellerberg ( Dürnstein ), such as Ms. Weingarten Monastery set Loibenberg, Oberhauser and Steinertal (Loiben). You are with the white wines Green Valtellina (50%), Riesling (48%) and Sauvignon Blanc (2%) planted. The uncompromisingly practiced quality criteria are strict yield restrictions and careful hand picking only physiologically more mature and healthy grapes. The majority of the wines are marketed under the vineyard name. In special years, small amounts of readings are produced under "M" (for "monumental"). Premium wines include, for example, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Kellerberg, Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg and (which also refers to the "infinite" finish) Riesling Smaragd Infinite. The winery is a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus,
