The winery is located in the municipality of Kaltern (Caldaro) in the Italian wine-growing area of South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige region). It was founded in 2003 by Thomas Pichler. In 2015 the new wine cellar production room and a salesroom will be put into operation. The vineyards cover 1.6 hectares of vineyards in Kalterer Lage. One third of them are planted with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, and two thirds with the red wine varieties Vernatsch (Schiava Grossa) and Lagrein. The product range includes DOC South Tyrolean and Kalterersee wines. The premium wines of the house are the DOC wines Lagrein Riserva "Sond" (four-week maceration in stainless steel, aged 18 to 20 months in 50% new barriques) and Chardonnay "Untermazzon" (fermentation in small wooden barrels, aged 8 months in one third new tonneaux barriques). Around 15,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, of which around 25% are exported to Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The winery is a member of Freie Weinbauern Südtirol and Wein.Kaltern.
