The white grape variety comes from Italy, The name derives from the Ligurian dialect word pigà or pigau and refers to the spots on the berries. It is also incorrectly called Rossese Bianco designated, but should not be confused with this variety. Pigato is listed in the MIPAAF grape variety catalog as an independent variety, but also as a variety ( mutation ) or as in Wine grapes and in VIVC catalog as identical to the variety Vermentino designated. In the DOC provisions of Liguria are called both Vermentino and Pigato. In 2010, however, no stock was reported under the name Pigato (Kym Anderson ).
