Pigott Stuart

The English wine journalist Stuart Pigott (*1960) is considered an absolute expert on Germany and Riesling. By his own admission, he became a wine lover through a 1971 vintage of Château Cheval Blanc. Germany is his adopted country; he has lived in Berlin for a long time. In his books he writes quite critically with a "pointed pen". His first book "Die großen deutschen Rieslingweine" (The Great German Riesling Wines) was published in 1994 and was a great success. It was followed, among others, by the books "Die führenden Winzer und Spitzenweine Deutschlands", "Göttertrank und Blendwerk - Von der schwierigen Liebe zum Wein", "Rhein und Mosel" and "Die großen Weißweine Deutschlands". Together with Hugh Johnson, he wrote several works, including "Atlas der deutschen Weine - Lagen, Produzenten, Weinstraßen". Pigott was awarded the Steinfeder Prize for wine journalism in 1992 and in 2004 he received the "Prix du Champagne Lanson". He supports with his project "Wine helps.
