Pinot Teinturier

The red grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Farbclevner and Pinot Fin Teinturier. It is a mutation of Pinot Noir. The DNA profile is identical, but there are small morphological differences. Despite reddish grape juice, it is not considered a Teinturier (colouring grape). The vine was discovered at the end of the 19th century by Jean Guicherd in a vineyard of Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte d'Or area and later also in the communes of Morey-Saint-Denis and Vosne-Romanée. In 2016, however, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson).
