The red grape variety (also Freiburg 364-80 R) is a new breed between GM 6423-14 ( Rotberger x Heroldrebe ) x Freiburg 054-64 r ( Deckrot x Freiburg 589-54). The crossing of the hybrid took place in 1980 at the State Wine Institute Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg). The late ripening hardy Vine is resistant to both mildews and Botrytis and is therefore one of the PIWI -Sorts. It is also only slightly susceptible to stem necrosis and coulure, The variety produces dark, color-intensive red wines, which as teinturier (Cover wine) are suitable.
