The winery is located in the wine-growing community Gumpoldskirchen
in the Lower Austrian wine region Thermenregion
, It is run by Gustav Krug in the 17th generation of the family. The Heuriger "Altes Zechhaus" has been in operation since 1970. The house, first mentioned in 1549, has been owned by the family since 1905. It was once used to store the wine. A guest house is connected. In 1998 the wine cellar was outsourced and a modern, functional winery was built in the middle of the vineyards. The vineyards cover 34 hectares of vineyards (including 12 owned by the owners) in the vineyards Doctnerin
, Hausberg, Katzbühel, Rasslerin and Sonnberg. They are planted 60% with the white varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Rotgipfler, Zierfandler, Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, and 40% with the red varieties Merlot, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Particular attention is paid to the care of the vineyards. Appropriate selection means that only healthy and ripe grape material is processed. The red wines mature in small or large barriques for at least a year before they are marketed. The white wines are fermented at 18 to 20 degrees Celsius and mostly aged in steel tanks or large wooden barrels. Premium wines are the red wines "CLASSIC" (Zweigelt, Merlot), "Die Temptation" with an erotic label (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir) and the only "PURIFY" (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) and the white wine "Die white temptation ”(Pinot Gris). In years suitable for the weather, noble sweet dried berries are also produced. Around 250,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. There are also frizzante, brandies and vinegar
