Pittermännchen

single vineyard in the municipality of Dorsheim in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. The name dates back to the 16th century, when "Petermännchen" was the popular name for a small silver coin (albus). It is possible that the name refers to Peter, who is depicted on this coin. The site immediately adjacent to Goldloch first appears in the site register in 1860. The south-facing vineyards at 220 to 300 metres above sea level with a slope of 40 to 55% cover more than six hectares of vines. The soil, interspersed with weathered slate, has a high proportion of quartzite and pebbles. Riesling is the main variety cultivated here. The Joh. Bapt. Schäfer, Pieroth, Schlossgut Diel and Schömehl wineries, for example, have shares in the site.
