The red grape variety is a new breed between Riesling Italico ( Riesling ) x Pinot Noir, The crossing took place in 1989 at the University of Piacenza ( Lombardy - Italy ) by Mario Fregoni. The early to medium maturing vine is also suitable for sparkling wines. No holdings were reported in 2010 (Kym Anderson ).
