Plutzer

Austrian name (also Blutzer) for a clay wine vessel with a narrow neck and mostly only one handle. The name is derived from the form (verbally Plutzer = head). He often had a second hole next to the mouth for direct drinking, so that air could flow in while drinking. A simple one used to be in this vessel Piquette (House drink) taken to the vineyard work.
