Plutzer

Austrian term (also Blutzer) for a wine vessel made of clay with a narrow neck and usually only one handle. The name is derived from the shape (dialect Plutzer = head). Often it had a second hole next to the mouth opening for direct drinking, so that air could flow in while drinking. In the past, a simple (house drink) was carried in this vessel for vineyard work.
