The red grape variety is one mutation of Black Queen (Bailey x Golden Queen); with that are genes of Vitis labrusca. Vitis lincecumii and Vitis vinifera contain. According to an unproven hypothesis, deviating from this official origin, it should be identical to the variety pione his. The hybrid was named after the Thai winemaker Nong Pok, who found her in the Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima province in the early 1980s. In 2010 was in Thailand a cultivated area of 17 hectares.
