The winery is located in the municipality of Gabersdorf in the Austrian wine-growing region of South Styria. Attached to it is the "Winzerhaus Ratsch". The winery was founded in 1860 by Josef List and has been family-owned ever since. After practice at home and abroad and after graduating from the HBLA for Viticulture and Pomiculture in Klosterneuburg, it is now run by his great-great-grandson Stefan Potzinger in the fourth generation. Hans-Peter Wippel is the oenologist. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vineyards in the communities or sites of Ratsch (Kapun), Sulztal, Glanz (Kaltenegg), Langegg (Czamillonberg), Heimschuh (Kittenberg), Höch (Theresienhöhe), Kitzeck (Steinriegel), Flamberg (Oberburgstall) and Kainberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, Traminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Riesling, Scheurebe and Morillon(Chardonnay), as well as the red wine variety Zweigelt.

The vineyards are cultivated according to the environmentally friendly guidelines of the KIP (controlled, integrated production). The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand. The grapes are selected by hand in several passes at optimal physiological ripeness. The wines are produced in accordance with the Südsteiermark DAC system of origin introduced in Styria in 2018. There are three lines: Klassik (varietal wines), Ortsweine ( local wines), e.g. Kitzegg/Sausal, and Riedenweine (terroir wines made from the best hand-selected grapes).

The wines are mainly matured in stainless steel tanks (Ratsch) and partly in barriques. The white wines mature for a long time on the fine le es after the end of fermentation. The addition of tannins and acid corrections is dispensed with. The main wine line "Tradition" was named in reference to the traditional Styrian wine still. The single-vineyard wines such as "Sauvignon Blanc Joseph Ried Sulz" or "Traminer Kaltenegg" are made from late-harvested grapes from exposed single vineyards, often in very small quantities. Styrian kernel oil is also produced. The winery is a member of the Verein Wein Steiermark.
