Prč

The white grape variety originates from Croatia. The name means "goat" and refers to the strong smell of the berries. Synonyms are Čimavica, Gark, Makarska, Muskatic, Parč and Prč Bijeli. The parentage is unknown. It should not be confused with the variety Grk (with synonym Prč) due to seemingly indicative synonyms or morphological similarities. The medium to late ripening vine is susceptible to powdery mildew. It yields simple, low-acid white wines with muscat tone, which serve as blends together with the Bogdanuša variety. The endangered variety is grown exclusively on the island of Hvar. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
