Preisinger Claus

The winery is located in the municipality Gols in the Burgenland wine region Lake Neusiedl (Austria). The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vineyards, spread over 44 plots on the Wagram and on the plateau of the Parndorfer Platte from Weiden am See via Gols to Mönchhof. They are planted 90% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch , Blauburgunder, Merlot and St. Laurent, and 10% with the white varieties Weißburgunder and Chardonnay. The young winemaker Claus Preisinger gained practical experience in South Tyrol, California and as a laboratory assistant at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Wien . After that he was with "John" for three years Nittnaus active as "Assistant Winemaker", he also sees him as his great mentor. He sees himself as an absolute terroir winemaker. Particular attention is paid to maximum physiological ripeness, the harvest takes place in grape-friendly 10 kg crates. The traditional vinification takes place in open vats partly from French oak spontaneous fermentation, long maceration times and long expansion on the lees, With the vintage 2000 the first own wine was produced.
