President

The white grape variety is an open-pollinated descendant of the Herbert variety. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was selected in the USA in 1900 by the botanist Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913). It is cultivated in the USA and Canada (Ontario) and is mainly used for sparkling wines. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson). President is also a synonym for the grape varieties Graisse and Gouais Blanc (Président).
