The "Rotweingut Prickler" is located in the municipality of Lutzmannsburg in the Austrian wine-growing region of Mittelburgenland. It is managed by Herbert Prickler, his son Christian (cellarmaster) is responsible for the cellar. Elfi Prickler is responsible for the vineyards "from pruning to harvest", Christina Prickler is responsible for event management, tastings, marketing and customer service. The company motto is: "Wine is our great passion".
The vineyards comprise 22 hectares of vines on the Lutzmannsburg plateau, including the Alt Satz, Kirchner and Sonnberg vineyards. They are mainly planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch (60%), Zweigelt (20%), Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, as well as some Welschriesling. Grapes are also bought in. Through appropriate measures, quality-enhancing low yields are achieved. Through selective manual harvesting only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed.
Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in traditional large wooden barrels or in barriques. Premium wines include the red wine cuvée Grand Pri' (BF, ZW, ME, CS), Blaufränkisch Grande Reserve V-MAX and Cabernet Sauvignon. Specialities are a white pressed "White One" from Zweigelt and a Blaufränkisch Rosé. Frizzante and grape juice are also produced. The winery is a member of the associations Vitikult and Blaufränkischland Mittelburgenland.
