Abbreviation for "Primum Familiae Vini", a select circle of family wineries. The idea was conceived in 1990 by the two wine legends Miguel Torres (*1941) and Robert Drouhin, and the association was founded in 1993. The international association of the "First families of wine" is limited to a maximum of 12 members. Each family owns vineyards, is one of the most respectable wine producers in its region and produces wines of international renown. At the annual general meeting, one of its members is elected as president to represent the association at events around the world.
