Principauté d'Orange

IGP area north of Avignon in the French wine region Provence, It lies between the AOC areas Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Cotes du Rhone-Villages, The name means "Principality of Orange" and refers to the former Principality located here. The area comprises 36 municipalities in the department Vaucluse, The designation can be added to the department name in the form Vaucluse Principauté d'Orange. Around 50 grape varieties can be used, mostly as varietal wines be pressed.
