ProCork

In 2001, a process developed by a Dr. Gregor Christie to seal corks in the fight against the dreaded cork taster. It was then presented to the public for the first time in 2003 by an Australian producer. The natural cork is provided with a coating (membrane) at both ends, which is intended to shield the wine from harmful influences such as trichloroanisole (TCA). However, the side walls of the cork are not protected. Any TCA that may be present in the cork could enter the wine when the bottle is opened. The basic idea of ProCork is similar to the alternative system H.I.S.S. See also other types of closures under closures.
