Pröll Andreas

The Andreas Pröll winery in the municipality of Radlbrunn (Ziersdorf) is located in the south-west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel in the Schmida valley, not far from the Manhartsberg. It was founded as an agricultural and wine-growing enterprise as early as 1705 and celebrated its tercentenary in 2005. In recent years, investments have been made in marketing and tasting facilities and a new cellar has been built. The vineyards cover 12 hectares in the Brenner, Fellingen, Galgenberg, Karln, Kirchberg, Lehlen, Steiningen and Wetzelsthal vineyards. They lie on loamy loess soils and partly on sand and gravel. The white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner (main variety), Chardonnay, Frühroter Veltliner, Gewürztraminer, Rivaner, Riesling and Weißburgunder, as well as the red wine varieties Blauburger, Merlot and Zweigelt are cultivated. Andreas Pröll's goal is to produce white wines that are characteristic of the area and powerful, tannin-rich and long-lasting red wines. The premium wines include Grüner Veltliner Ried Brenner, the "Jahrhundert Pröll" (Pröll Century) Grüner Veltliner Ried Lehlen, Riesling Ried Kirchberg, the red wine cuvée "Maxim-Loren" and the red wine "Antonia" (Merlot) aged in barriques. The winery is a member of the Weinviertel Winegrowers' Association.
