Pröll Andreas

The Andreas Pröll winery in the municipality of Radlbrunn (large municipality of Ziersdorf) is located in the southwest of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Weinviertel in the Schmida valley near the Manhartsberg. It was founded in 1705 as an agricultural and viticulture company and celebrated its three hundredth anniversary in 2005. In recent years, investments have been made in marketing and tasting rooms and a new cellar has been built. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards in the Brenner, Fellingen, Galgenberg, Karln, Kirchberg, Lehlen, Steiningen and Wetzelsthal vineyards. They lie on loamy loess soils and partly on sand and gravel. The white varieties Grüner Veltliner (main variety), Chardonnay, Frühroter Veltliner , Gewürztraminer, Rivaner, Riesling and Pinot Blanc, as well as the red varieties Blauburger, Merlot and Zweigelt are cultivated. Andreas Pröll's aim is to produce characteristic white wines and bulky, tannin-stressed and long-lived red wines for the area. The premium wines include, among others, Grüner Veltliner Ried Brenner, the "Century Pröll" Grüner Veltliner Ried Lehlen, Riesling Ried Kirchberg, the red wine cuvée "Maxim-Loren" and the red wine "Antonia", which was created in barriques, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary celebration "(Merlot). The winery is a member of the winegrowers' association Weingüter Weinviertel.
