Promara

The white grape variety originates from Cyprus; the name refers to the early ripeness. Synonyms are Bastartiko, Glykopromo and Lykopromon. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. A probable clone is the variety Bastartiko. The variety Promara was first mentioned in 1893. The vine is resistant to drought and, due to the thick-skinned berries, also very good against fungal diseases. It produces aromatic white wines with balanced acidity and exotic aromas of lemons and watermelons. The variety is grown in small quantities on the slopes of the Troodos Mountains. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
