PTP

Abbreviation for "Priznano Tradicionalno Poimenovanje" (in German: anerkannte traditionelle Bezeichnung). The country-specific quality wine class "Vino PTP" was applied for in Slovenia in 1997 in preparation for EU accession, granted there after long negotiations by special regulation and then officially introduced in 2001 as the highest quality level. In principle, the quality wine requirements (Vrhunsko Vino z geografskim poreklom) must be met for these wines. The classification "Vino PTP" is intended for Slovenian quality wines whose designation (name) and geographical origin are protected, as well as which are produced according to traditional methods laid down by national law. Currently, four wines are classified as PTP, namely Belokranjec, Cviček, Kras Teran and Metliska Crnina.
