Puyméras

Independent community area in the departments Drôme and Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Cotes du Rhone-Villages (see the AOC regulations there). The name has also been allowed to appear on red wines since 2005 label be cited. The vineyards are located at 220 to 600 meters above sea level and cover 130 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Merindol les Oliviers and Mollans sur Ouveze (Drôme), as well as Faucon, Saint Romain en Viennois and the eponymous Puymeras (Vaucluse). Some rows of olive and fruit trees standing between the vineyards testify to a once diverse cultivation, which besides the vines due to the extreme frost was destroyed in 1956.
