QbA

Abbreviation for "quality wine (or quality sparkling wine) of specific growing areas" for a wine controlled by origin or sparkling wine of the highest quality level. The EU Wine Market Regulations, which have been in force since 2009, introduced new quality grades and wine descriptions (see below) quality system ). The traditional name QbA is still in Germany and South-Tirol allowed. However, one takes more and more distance from a use and also in German wine law one speaks only of quality wine or quality sparkling wine. In Austria however, QbA was never in use.
