The winery is located in the municipality of A Rúa (Ourense province) in the DO area of Valdeorras in Galicia. It was founded in 2004 by Rafael Palacios. His older brother Álvaro Palacios is the legendary winemaker from the Priorato area in Catalonia. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards, some of which are tiny, terraced 35 plots or sites (Galician "Sortes") on sandy, slate and granite soils at over 700 metres above sea level in the Valle del Bibei, which is crossed by the Sil (tributary of the Miño). These are for example 1920, Caneiros, Castineiro, Chao do Couso, Coalleira, Encarnacion, Falcoeira, Olivar, O Serro, O Soro, dos Santos, Valdanta, Valdauga, Valverde and Venta.

Rafael Palacios has always had a preference for white wines and gained experience in Australia before returning to Rioja. He created the white wine "Placet" at the family winery Palacios Remondo there. At his winery, he mainly relies on the native Godello with vines up to 100 years old. The natural cultivation is partly carried out according to biodynamic rules. The temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in wooden barrels of various sizes, some of which are also barriques. Premium wines are the "As Sortes" (from top locations) and "O Soro", which are made 100% from Godello and are both aged for 12 months in barrique. Around 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
