The red grape variety is a new breed between Shiroka Melnishka x valdiguié, Synonyms are Early Melnik, Melnik 55, Melnishka Ranna and Ranna Melnishka. The crossing took place in 1963 in Bulgaria by the breeder Yane Atanasov. In breeding, a seed mixture of the three varieties Durif. Jurançon and Valdiguié used (and as stated in the breed list), but by 2005 DNA analysis the definitive paternity of valdiguié determined. It is often confused with the mother variety. By the way, with the same parents is also the new breed Melnik 82 emerged. The medium-ripening vine is susceptible to both powdery mildews, but relatively resistant to Botrytis, It produces spicy red wines with sour cherry aroma and aging potential. The variety is cultivated in the southwest and occupied in 2010 a total of 249 hectares.
