The red grape variety is a new breeding between Ribier (Alphonse Lavallée) x Queen of the Vineyards. Synonyms are Apostoliatiko, Cardenal, Cardinal Crveni, Francesa, G 10-30, Karaburnu Rannii, Cardinal and Rannii Carabournu. The parentage Ahmeur Bou Ahmeur (Flame Tokay) x Ribier given in the breeding list turned out to be false in DNA analyses carried out in 2009.
