Appellation in the Larissa district in the Greek region of Thessaly. The vineyards cover about 450 hectares of vineyards on calcareous soil in the municipalities of Ambelákia, Kraniá, Piryetós and Rapsani. They are situated at an altitude of 400 to 700 metres above sea level on Mount Ossa at the south-eastern foot of the mountain and "mountain of the gods" Olympus with the highest peak of Mytika (2918 m). The dry POP red wine is made from the grape varieties Xinomavro, Ampelakiotiko (Krassato) and Stavroto. Well-known producers are Dougos Winery, Katsaros and Tsantali.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
