The red grape variety comes from Italy. Synonyms are Geppolino, Raspi Rosso, Raspo Rosso, Rasporosso, Tintoria and Tintura Nera. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. It must not be confused with the variety Moradella (synonym Raspo Rosso) because of apparently indicating synonyms. The thick-skinned vine produces dark-coloured red wines that are suitable for teinturation. It is grown in small quantities in Tuscany and is blended with Sangiovese as a colouring variety. In 2016, however, no stock was reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
