Ratinho

The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Boal das Abelhas, Boal Ratinho, Branco Sem Nome, Carniceira, Malvasia de Tomar, Malvasia Rasteiro, Manteúdo, Mantheúdo, Saborosa, Ratinha, Saborosa and Uva Doce Malvasia. According to the latest DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it is the result of a presumably natural cross between Malvasia Fina x Síria. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see Molecular Genetics). The variety is grown in the Carcavelos area. In 2016, no stocks were reported; in 2010, there had been 84 hectares (Kym Anderson). It is possible that the stocks were subsumed under a different name.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
