Ratti

The estate is located in the commune of La Morra in the Italian region Piedmont, The founder Renato Ratti (1934-1988) went to Brazil after studying oenology in Alba, where he produced sparkling wine and Cinzano was active. In 1965 he returned to his home and bought vineyards in the Barolo area. As President of the Consorzio del Barolo, he made a significant contribution to the renewal of vinification techniques in the barology area. He also wrote several books on Piedmont wines. His most famous works include "Innovation" and "Barolo il Grande". The book “Nebbiolo Vitigno di Terroir” comes from his son. In 1969 his nephew Massimo Martinelli joined the company. Under his responsibility, the barrel expansion was greatly shortened and bottle maturation was forced. Renato Ratti promoted the idea of terroir and successfully endeavored to have the individual locations in the long-range mountains recognized. After his early death, the business has been run by son Pietro Ratti since 1988. In 2002 a new winery was built. The vineyards cover 30 hectares. The product range includes several Barolo (e.g. Conca Marcenasco, Marcenasco, Rocche Marcenasco), Barbera d'Alba. Dolcetto d'Alba. Monferrato and Nebbiolo d'Alba,
