Ravat Jean François

The trained French mining engineer Jean François Ravat (+1940) began in the year 1929 near the Burgundian town of Marcigny with the new breed of vines. He created many French until 1935 hybrids second generation through crossbreeding of EU citizens, With American vines, He used mostly Seibel hybrids as a crossing partner. His breeding goal was Burgundy-like wines through the preferred use of the varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, His most famous products are the varieties Ravat 34, Ravat Blanc (Ravat 6), Ravat Noir (Ravat 262), Tissier Ravat (Ravat 578) and Vignoles (Ravat 51).
