Ravat Jean François

The trained French mining engineer Jean François Ravat (+1940) started from 1929 near the Burgundian town of Marcigny with the new cultivation of vines. He created numerous French until 1935 hybrids the second generation by crossing EU citizens, With American vines, He mostly used it Seibel hybrids as a crossing partner. His breeding goal was Burgundy-like wines through preferred use of the varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Its most famous products are the Ravat 34 varieties, Ravat Blanc (Ravat 6), Ravat noir (Ravat 262), Tissier Ravat (Ravat 578) and Vignoles (Ravat 51).
