Red Trollinger

The red grape variety originates from Italy (South Tyrol). Synonyms are Angur Asii, Calebstraube, Czerwenz Tarant, De Cadolle, Gomie Violette, Großer Hellrother Gänsfüßler, Hartwegische Samentraube, Paradeur, Raisin Monstrueux, Rosenrothe Perltraube, Rothe Riesentraube, Rother Wälscher Tharand, Rothwälscher, Samentraube, Schmiedstoffel and Zottelwälscher. It is a member of the heterogeneous name group Schiava. The variety must not be confused with the genetically related variety Roter Urban (a somatic mutation of Schiava Gentile) due to similar synonyms or morphological similarities. It is a colour mutation of the variety Schiava Grossa (Blue Trollinger). It is used as a winepress and table grape. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
