The winery is located in the municipality of Würzburg (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 1960 by Bruno Reiss. Today, the business is run by Martina and Christian Reiss. The vineyards cover 16.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Kelter (Himmelstadt), Roter Berg (Weimersheim), Sonnenschein (Veitshöchheim), Scharlachberg (Thüngersheim), Pfülben and Sonnenstuhl (Randersacker), as well as Pfaffenberg and Stein (Würzburg). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Traminer, Kerner, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser, Schwarzriesling (Pinot Meunier) and Domina. The wines are produced in the New Franconia, Franconian Classic and Great Franconia lines. In years with suitable weather conditions, Beerenauslese and ice wines are also produced.
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
