Retagliado Bianco

The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Arba Luxi, Arretallau, Arrotelas, Bianca Lucida, Co 'e Erbei, Coa de Brebèi, Erba Luxi, Mara Bianca, Rechiliau, Redaglàdu, Retagladu, Retagliada, Retagliadu, Retagliadu Francese, Retellau, Ritelau and Rotogliadu. The parentage is unknown. It should not be confused with the Brustiano Bianco or Vermentino varieties due to morphological similarities. There is no connection to the red variety Retagliado Nieddu (synonym for Garnacha Tinta). This very late-maturing, high-yielding vine is resistant to powdery mildew but susceptible to downy mildew. It produces a rather neutral white wine that is mostly blended with Vermentino and other local varieties. The variety is also used as table grape. It is cultivated in Sardinia in the two provinces of Gallura and Sassari. In 2016, 11 hectares of vines were reported with a decreasing trend (Kym Anderson).
