Land in the southwest of Germany with almost 20,000 km², which was created in 1946 by the unification of the southern part of the Prussian Rhine Province, the Bavarian governmental district of Palatinate and western parts of Hesse. The special status of the wine is documented by a folk crown of vine leaves on the state coat of arms. The capital Mainz is a member of Great Wine Capitals Global Network - a worldwide wine town network. Through the country leads the 85 km long German wine route, the oldest tourist street in Germany. Annually, the event series CINEMA VINO organized with the objective of linking the two cultural areas of cinema and wine making as an integral part of Rhineland-Palatinate wine marketing.
