Land in the southwest of Germany with almost 20,000 km², which was created in 1946 by the unification of the southern part of the Prussian Rhine Province, the Bavarian governmental district of Palatinate and western parts of Hesse. Here are altogether six of the 13 German cultivation areas; these are Ahr. middle Rhine. Moselle. Near. palatinate and Rheinhessen, The vineyards are mostly on the slopes of the winemaking favoring waters or rivers Ahr, Lahn, Moselle. Near. Rhine, Ruwer and Saar, as well as tributaries. The vineyards of these growing areas comprised a total of 64,380 hectares in 2018, which are managed by around 7,500 vineyards (greater than 0.5 ha). Every year, about six million hectoliters grape to Wine. sparkling wine and also other products processed. With almost two-thirds of the total vineyard area, around 50% of all winegrowing enterprises, about two-thirds of the wine produced in Germany and about 90% share in the German wine export, Rhineland-Palatinate is clearly the German wine country no. 1, even though the land area is less than 6% accounts.
The special status of the wine is documented by a folk crown of vine leaves on the state coat of arms. Every year, the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture produce one award the best wines and sect from the six growing areas presented in the vaulted hall of the Electoral Palace in Mainz. The capital Mainz is a member of Great Wine Capitals Global Network - a worldwide wine town network. Through the country leads the 85 km long German wine route, the oldest tourist street in Germany. Annually, the event series CINEMA VINO organized with the objective of linking the two cultural areas of cinema and wine making as an integral part of Rhineland-Palatinate wine marketing. In 1990 the club became Controlled environmentally friendly viticulture Rhineland-Palatinate which commits the member companies to appropriate measures in the vineyard with annual inspections.
