Grand Cru site as its own AOC area in the Burgundian commune of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits area. The vineyard was established as early as the Middle Ages by the Cistercians. The vineyards cover eight hectares on a gently rising east-facing slope at an altitude of 260 to 280 metres above sea level on loamy, calcareous soils with numerous, heat-retaining limestones that provide good drainage. Richebourg lies between the Premier Cru sites Aux Brulées (north), Cros Parantoux, Les Petits Monts, Aux Reignots (west) and the Grand Crus Romanée-Saint-Vivant (east) and La Roman ée as well as Romanée-Conti (south). The site, which is one of the best Burgundian Grand Crus, is divided into the two lieu-dits (parcels) Les Véroilles (also Les Varoilles sous Richebourgs) and Les Richebourg. Only single-varietal red wine made from 100% Pinot Noir is produced here. Ten producers share the site, including Bichot (Domaine du Clos Frantin), Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Grivot, Anne Gros, J. Gros, Hudelot-Noellat, Domaine Leroy and Méo-Camuzet.
