Riesling Hochgewächs

Designation introduced in 1987 for a "Typewine of Special Origin" which can be produced in all German growing regions. It may only be pressed from the Riesling grape variety. The grapes must have a must weight at least 10 °Oe above the standard and the wines must have an alcohol content 1.5% vol. higher than the requirements for the production area. In the sensory test for the official test number, the wines must achieve at least 3.0 (instead of 1.5) points.
