This white grape variety is a new cross between Diagalves x Fernão Pires. The crossing took place in 1951 in Portugal by the breeder Leão Ferreira. The variety is cultivated in small quantities on the Azores island of Pico and on Madeira and is used in blending. The same parents also gave rise to the new variety Seara Nova. In 2016, half a hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
