Ripolo

The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Ripala, Ripoli and Uva Ripola. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2005, it is related to the varieties Aglianicone, Falanghina Flegrea and Pallagrello Nero. However, the parentage is unknown. It yields white wines with aromas of apricots and honey. The variety is grown in small quantities in Campania (province of Salerno), where it is used in the DOC white wine Costa d'Amalfi. In 2016, one hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
