The winery is located in the municipality of Dernau in the German wine-growing region of Ahr. Today it is run by the fourth generation of the family, the great-grandson of the founder, Volker Riske. A wine tavern is attached. The vineyards cover five hectares of vineyards in the Burggarten, Hardtberg, Pfarrwingert and Schieferlay (Dernau), Rosenberg and Trotzenberg (Marienthal), Sonnenberg (Bad Neuenahr), Sonnenschein (Bachem), and Ursulinengarten (Ahrweiler) sites. They are planted with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder (75%), Blauer Portugieser, Dornfelder and Frühburgunder, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling and Rivaner. Natural viticulture is practised. The quality criteria are reduced pruning, defoliation of the grape zone, thinning out of still unripe grapes and hand-sorted grape harvesting in several passes. The white wines are cold fermented and matured in steel tanks. The red wines mature in old wooden barrels and new barriques and are bottled at the peak of their development. Fine brandies (yeast, marc), liqueurs and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
